SERVICES OF THE BULLHEAD CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT
FIRE SUPPRESSION
The threat of fire and its
devastating effects on life and property are of major importance
and priority
for the Bullhead City Fire Department. To address those concerns and to
provide rapid, safe, and effective firefighting efforts, the Bullhead City Fire
Department
operates from five fire stations located at strategic points
throughout the community. Bullhead
City firefighters respond in a rapid
and safe manner with occupant safety and rescue of
endangered citizens as our
most important mission priority
To accomplish this, firefighters use a variety of tools and
technology including thermal
imaging cameras, large diameter hose capable of
supplying more water at the fire scene,
and compressed air foam which delivers
water mixed with air to produce a better and
more efficient fire
extinguishing foam.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
Paramedics and
emergency services personnel are highly trained, experienced and
prepared to
deliver quality emergency medical services to the citizens of Bullhead City.
Ambulances are staffed by firefighter paramedics who deliver prompt and
efficient
emergency medical treatment utilizing a variety of life saving
tools. Paramedics carry the
newest in cardiac monitor-defibrillators
and medications that can be delivered in the
patient's home or business to
save lives and eliminate pain and suffering. In addition,
Bullhead City
Fire Department ambulances provide airport transportation of flight crews and
their patients. Bullhead City Fire Department has been delivering
ambulance transport for
the sick and injured since 1971.
FIRE PREVENTION
The fire
prevention bureau works hard to make our community a safer place to work and
live.
The mission of the prevention bureau is to review plans for new
construction and remodeling
projects, perform regular inspections of existing
buildings and structures for compliance with
fire codes, and to enforce these
codes to insure the buildings in our community remain free
of hazards which
could cause injury and fires. The prevention bureau collects fees for plan
reviews and permits, maintains the necessary records of all inspections, and
provides
reports regarding any fire related incidents that occur within our
city limits.
PUBLIC EDUCATION
The Bullhead City Fire Department has been a
leader is providing outstanding public fire
safety education in the public
schools as well as to community groups. Using a variety of
teaching
methods, full time public educators teach fire safety, water safety awareness,
injury
prevention, bike safety, car seat safety and installation, making good
life choices, and juvenile fire
setter education. Our goal is to make our
community a safe place to live and play. Educating our
citizens on things
they can do to make their homes and surroundings safe, and teaching them
what they should do in case of an emergency are very effective ways to achieve
this goal.
INTERFACILITY AMBULANCE TRANSPORT
In addition to emergency medical response at the paramedic level, Bullhead City
Fire
Department provides transportation of the sick and injured from our
community to other facilities
throughout the southwest including Arizona,
California, Nevada and other western states that
meet the needs of the
patient. Patients are also transported between nursing homes and the
hospital by Bullhead City Fire Department ambulances.
HAZARD MITIGATION
In preparation
for all risk management to meet the needs of the community, Bullhead Fire
provides hazardous materials response at a high level. Managed by an
Assistant Chief,
Bullhead Fire has a very capable and sophisticated response
system backed up by state-of-the-
art hazmat equipment in the event of a
hazardous materials response.
TECHNICAL RESCUE SERVICES
Working in correlation with fire,
emergency medical, and hazmat response, technical rescue
service is also a
very large part of our community preparedness and response. Consisting
of fire rescue boat operations, dive rescue, swift water rescue, and rope
rescue, we have the
capability to assist and respond to all risk
environments.
