Monday, February 8, 2010 at 0247 hours,
two engine companies of Bullhead City Firefighters
and two
rescue ambulances responded to a house fire on Arriba Drive. This
residence was a single
story site built home with an attached garage.
Arriving firefighters discovered flames and smoke
showing through the front door
and living room area roof. Bullhead City Police Department advised
that
the residence was vacant. Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire
defensively as the fire
was through the roof and it was not safe to fight from
the interior. Neighboring homes were
protected at all times.
A vacant home with no utilities rarely has an accidental fire. Bullhead
City Fire
Investigators were called to the scene for investigation and to
determine the exact cause of this fire.

Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 1125 hours,
two engine companies of Bullhead City Firefighters and
two
rescue ambulances responded to a house fire on Riverview Drive.
Responding units could see a large
column of smoke from miles away. The
residence was a very old single wide mobile home with add-on rooms
on three
sides. The home was approximately 50% involved in fire with fire venting
itself through the rear of the
structure when firefighters arrived.
Neighboring homes were threatened by the fire. Firefighters attacked the
30
foot high flames aggressively while protecting the surrounding homes. The residents
of the home self evacuated
prior to fire department arrival. The Bullhead
City Police Department controlled traffic on the busy road and
protected the
large diameter hose from the hydrant to the engine. The Fort Mojave Mesa
Fire Department
responded to assist with their air trailer. The Fire
Department Emergency Services Unit was dispatched
to assist with rehab.
The Bullhead Fire Investigators
determined the fire was caused by an electrical problem
with the older mobile home aluminum wiring connected to copper wiring in the
room addition.

Monday, February 22, 2010 at 0348 hours,
two engine companies of Bullhead City Firefighters and
two
rescue ambulances responded to a house fire on Rio Grande Drive.
Arriving firefighters found fire, heat and
smoke contained to the inside of a
single-wide mobile home with an add-on bedroom. Firefighters aggressively
attacked the fire through the front door. The fire was contained to the
living room, however heat and
smoke destroyed the entire inside of the
residence. The two residents self evacuated prior to the firefighters
arriving. Both were examined by paramedics on scene and one was
transported to Western Arizona
Regional Medical Center for lacerations
received when a window was broken to exit the house. The Fire Marshal
responded to investigate this incident. The fire appears to have started
in the cushion of the couch by an
improperly discarded cigarette that had been
smoldering for hours. The Bullhead City Police Department
assisted with
traffic control, and the American Red Cross dispatched volunteers from Lake
Havasu City
to provide disaster services to the fire victims. There
are no photos available of this fire.
